Benn I hav not got the Knife yet

Friends at homb I now sea my self to that I am well and hav enlistad to go into the 2 massachusetts Regt under Mr Marsh first hat this regt is heavy artilary down at fort hudson I hav enlistad for 3 years and hav got a furlow for 10 day I hav not stoped worck yet and if I cant gett your consent I shant go if you will sign the papers I wil send them homb or comb and fetch them but if you wont be sure and wright the next day so ishall git it for I shall hav to shoit to leutenant you besure and wright as soon as you get this for I shant stop worck till I gitt alett er from you and if you th inck that I had bett not go Ishant wright to me and i will showit to him leut and if i go I will comb home I shal hav $3,52 dollars bounty wright soon     From
