Friends at homb it is with much plasure that I wright to you to lett you no that I am well and fatt as a hog I reseved a letter from you and was very gladd to hear from you I hav sean Capt Bonat and gott the shirts and 5 dollars and was very gladd of it My papers was maid out to day and I am a going to washington this week I thinck may gitt my discharg there but dont no you nead not wright till you hear from me a gain that may be for some timb but you must not wory about me for ther is thousands wors of than I am my chanc is good as any ones is it cold up ther now we dont gitt much mail dont no whether it is on acount of the potomack freasing or whether our folks dont wright I hav not had only one letter from you for a month and I hav writen as oftan as once a week sinc I hav got into / winter quarters it is pretty cold out hear now but we hav gott good comfortable quarters for a soldier I see Edd Young a bout evry day he is not but a bout 50 rods from me now I hav seen Rob Holder 3 or 4 times since he caim out her I thinck that I see him be foar any of you or his folks new that he had enlistad he feals pretty badd a bout gitting into the army Ira was pretty lucky when he was exempt I thinck that the war is a bout over for the Johnies ar a bout plaid they ar desirting very fast on our rear into our army you can se the rebs from our camp pretty plain I dont no what will turn up be foar spring do any of the boys listing up there now if was at homb and had the use of of both hands I would comb for a year for a bout 2 thousand for some of them rich bugs that ar a fraid of a draft what do you thinck a bout that would that pay me pretty well if felt as well as I do now Why dont the boys list for the contary and save the union I am patriotckst now if they all would do as well as hav / don they will put down the rebelion I am a going to list a lot of them when I gitt homb well I will stopp my fooling now I cant wright any more this timb this is a pretty long letter for me to wright dont you thinck it Ben you stop at homb till I gett homb a gain and then I will tell you what to do a bout this ting this is all this from W Harvey I gott the last box that that you sent me I gott the boots they ar a good fitt the first box has gon to the devil
