Friends at homb it is timb for me to answer your letter it has binn a long timb sinc you hird from me I had that bundill with them glovs and mittens and that neadle boock caim pretty handy for my clothes was toar and so I went to worck and soad them up we hav bin on the left to see what the rebs was maid of and we found that they was maid of hard stough it was pretty hard for them that had to go in to the fight but I was in a bout 3 miles from there I had to take cair of the cergons stors that is my job when we hav to fight when we git in to winter quaters then I want a box of things it may be to washington that we stop this winter the boys say / that they would giv $500.00 dollars if they was in my place they say that there is a discharg in my path and it will catch me this winter and I hop so to my hand is well but it is awl stiff but my thumb and foar finger and I thinck that I shall not hav the use of it a gain and they awl thinck so to it is pretty small beside of the other one I shall hav to stay in my regament till we git into winter quaters and they will do som thing with me for I am of no use to them hear in the condition that I am now I dont thinck that there will be much more fighting this fawl by the mov of things out / hear for they ar abilding wintr quaters to the head quaters of the army of the potamack and if so it will not be long be foar that I shall no what that they ar a going to do with me meby that I shall git transfurd into the involad coar and meby dis charged Farther I would like to hav you git a pair of boots maid for me hav them maid a little larger than them of bens thin ones hav them maid of good french calf hav a tap on them dont hav them to heavy the saim as bens thin ones only a tap hav small heals and good thick heal irons I dont want any cap on the to of them if they / dont fit me I can git 12 dollars for them pretty quick them mittins that you sent me I might got 3 dollars for if I had benn a mind to sold them hav the boots maid and I will send for them when that I can git a chanc to stop any whair a fortnight to a timb mother send me a pretty vest when that they send my boots if you can no more this timb so good by wright soon and awl the news
