Friends at homb it has benn a long timb sinc I heard from you I hav gott to my Company it is the prettiest place that there is in Washington we garding a hospital whair awl off the bounty jumpers comb when they ar sick I am destitute for a little mony at this presant timb presdant Lincon was shot last night a bout 10 o Clock in the theater it was awful thing evry one hear apear to feal his los and Secutary Suard and nd Son was stabed but ar not dead they thinck they will recuver it was awl done a bout 10 at night 
 
hav you sent my Banjo yett if so send the recept of it so I cann gitt it If you could send me 5 or 10 dollars it would do me a grait deal of good I am in nead of it much I want some postage stamps and paper for I hav to borow and you no I dont like to do
 
how do you gitt a long this spring I am in hops to gitt homb befoar next winter Wright soon and awl of the news so I will wright a long letter next timb this from your son
