Friends at homb having timb and a postag stamp I thinck that I would wright a few lines to lett you no that i am well and so is the rest of the boys this present timb one of the boeds giv me 5 sents to go and lock up the searaphim when a fellow was playing the fellow is a dam shit ass that was playing he could play as much as Char[?] Worcks and I toock the 5 cents and went to the store and bot a stamp and a envelope and so icann wright I hav not heard from homb for along timb I guess you hav for gott that you hav got any boys haint you up there I sopose that billie holder caim homb to day benn that knife that you hav got from / John bellknapp you may send in aletter dont you send it by billie for he would kep it I no his gaim you cann send it by mail as well as any way that shirt that you sent me mother I did not no that Ira sent for them if i had i should told him not to sent for me one i haint tried it on yet I will keep it till i comb homb that in strament that you hav got you can do as you are amind if you kep it i will pay part for it and make Ira pay some I haint bin payed yet and gues that ishant never git any money I am pretty nasty and raged in the shop but kep my best clothes my boots leak but I will have a new pair some / timb when the sign is wright I thin that i never shall stop in vermont a grait while to a timb if I hav my health I shall stay hear till the 4orth of July and then I will comb homb and see you them red shirts you may kep I dont want them I gues I guess that I shall git me some I am out in the field laying besid of the corneticut river it is very hot to day it is hoter than it is in the midal of the sumer

I do not know hardly what to write I have not ben payed of yet but pay day comes in two weaks wee have to work two months befor wee get any pay I shal not have much the first time I did not get but a dollar a day for the first month an a dollar an a half the 2th month an a dollar and 75 after that that is the way I let my self to him so you see that I can do better hear than I can up thair give my respecks to all
