Lewis V. Tucker to Deborah O. Tucker et al., 8 March 1865
Marine U.S.A General Hospital New Orleans L.A. March 8th 1865

Dear Wife and children
I will write you another short letter to night in answer to one that I recieved from you to day written Feby 21st

I cannot write you much that is of importance more than to say how I am. I have been rather down for two or three days but am feeling quite well again now and have worked hard to day all day and feel pretty tired to night and shall not probably write you a very lengthy letter this time

I was as glad as ever to get your letter to day and hear again that you were well. I look forward with a goodeal of anxiety to the time when I shall again be at home with you and then if things work right we will try and quit Newark and [remainder of sheet torn away]

There is a prospect that we shall get our pay in a few days I hope that it will be so for I want it to send to you so that you can pay up what Mr Reynolds has let you have I sent you two dollars in the last letter that I sent you it may perhaps help you a little while I have to wait for my pay

But it is so late that I shall have to stop writing for I am very tired But I will write again in a few days

Write as often as you can

Truely yours as Ever
L. V. Tucker
