Dear Sister
I am again permitted to adress you I resieved your kind and ever welcom letter of March the 28th yesterday and I am happy to hear that you was injoying good helth as your letter found me And I hope this may find you and all the girls well you sayed that my girl had gon home on a visit and sayed that she sends her love to me I am glad that she has not forgotten me And I am in hopes that I will resieve a letter from her own hand in a fiew days that is if she should think enough of a soldier to write to him Give all the girls my respects and Mr barker tell him that a line from him once in a while would not come amiss I should like to have him write a fiew lines when he has nothing els to do or if he should think it worth his while Give my respects to Mrs Hill and the Ladie that spoke such kind and cheering words to me that day in your room tell her that those kind words are still ringing in my ears. Mary you wanted to know is occupied the same posision that I did before I am not Corporal but have ben promoted to a sargent in my company since my return
You wanted me to tell you what I thought of Mother going out to stay with Johns wife this sumer I canot tell how she would like it but I think a good place Mother is gitting most too old to travel much she must use her own judgment in that case you wanted to know how many our Regment numbers at present I canot tell but there is some where between four and five hundred We got quite a number of recruits in Minnesota before we left the state
We arived in Ringgold yesterday from Chattanooga and in the front with our old Brigade and old Division the Rebels are close on hand but still I dont think we will have any fighting very soon We are now in the old State of Georgia and but a fiew miles to the east of the old Chickamauga battle field The weather is warm and pleasant And Nature has spread her green carpet all over the earth Well mary you must excuse this poor writing and I will close for this time. I got that photograph and glad to get it I think they are good and if you have another one to spare I wish you would send one more for my partner Charles R Noris wants one he sends his respects to you Charley Norris and I are like two brothers he is a good boy and is liked by all of his comrads
