Francis J. Parker to Anna L. Parker, 16 September 1862
Mrs Anna L. Parker
80 Chester Park
Boston.
Bivouac between Boonsboro
& Sharpsboro Md Sept 16 1862
My dear Wife
We are all in a heap here 100 000 of us & they say that a great battle is to be fought today. Already the Artillery near us is at work & we are hurried & harried with orders abt ammunition. Nobody seems to know anything about the position force or spirit of the enemy nor does any body seem to think much about anything except the quality of their coming breakfast.
Saw Fred last evening. Seth Williams ditto.
I have been well constantly
Col Wilde is wounded but insists upon it that he can save his arm
My regiment is 420 men and I think they will do pretty well.
With Dear love I am
Affy Yours
Frank J Parker
