In camp near
Frederick City Md

My dear Wife
We have heard heavy firing all day and just at sundown it became nearer & more continuous & therefore I do not doubt but that another Sunday battle has taken place in the vicinity of Point of Rocks

We are to march tomorrow (Monday) morning at 3 o'clock We left Upton Hill Thursday or Friday morning and marched by way of Rockville my regiment is reduced to 375 effective men by the fatigues of the march.

I am very well and stand it like a major. Your letter was received on the way from W. It is after sundown and I am / sitting on the ground writing on a box. I sleep out of doors & think it makes me grow.

I write always when I can get or make time.

With dear love
Affy Your husband
Frank J Parker

The report is that we are driving the Rebs. There are 2000 prisoners here mostly stragglers of the enemy they were here a week ago.
