Charles W. Boardman
Charles W. Boardman was born around 1841 in Pennsylvania to Samuel and Alzina Boardman. His father was a farmer who owned $150 of real estate by 1850. He grew up in Warren County, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the Union army on August 27, 1862, and he mustered in as a private in Company E of the 145th Pennsylvania Infantry later that day. The regiment took part in the Battle of Antietam, the Battle of Fredericksburg, the Battle of Chancellorsville, the Battle of Gettysburg, the Battle of the Wilderness, and the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House. He eventually earned a promotion to corporal. He died at Spotsylvania Court House on May 12, 1864.
