Well Mother
as I reced your letter last nite and was very glad to hear from you and to hear that you was well I am well hoping those few lines will find you the same Daniel Scott stayed with me night before last and I was verry glad to see him I had the best visit with him that I have had in a good while he being a Spiritilist as well as myself we had a good chat he being a smart man it was quite interesting to me you sed that you felt bad becaus you did not no he was a comming in time to send me some thing but I did not expect eny thing theirfore I was not disapointed let that go for their may be a chance yet /
Mr Scott told me that when he went back to Washington that he would see why you did not get your money and inform me about it so we will no what to do well as to day is Christmass suppose you have some thing good to eat hope so for I have been living high for the last few days for me being a good wase off in Dixie we call allmoost eny thing good while I think Il tell you what I belong to the 2. Division 4 Brigade Jen Waren Commands the Corpse Jenrel Cauldwell the Division Col Brooks Acting Brigdier Jen of the Brigade Col H S Brown the Brave Col commands the 195 Pv Capt Henry Harvy command of Co. E a better man I never wish to have Silas Clemons Orderly Sargent the best one we ever had dont wish for a better one we have had a few flakes snow dry and cold nights turn over the paper /
Andrews & Georges letter came last night was glad to have them write they can write often I will as often as convient. I am very much obliged for the stamps & thread for I had only 1 stamp Cant get them hear very often hear
we have just drawn rations of whisky for Christmass I dranked about 3 tabelspoonfulls Gave the wrest to Abbot it does not agree with me as Im not youst to it a little hurts no one if he lets it be I think do you James Harris will be hear Monday 28 that is I understand by some that uncle Heni has got to that Pich which he goes to Scottsville most evry day and gets so drunk that he cant hardly navagate and wairs a seseh badg is one of the hotist Sesh can be scout up dont no how it is how is it / I inquired of Daniel about it He sed that he saw him often but new nothing of his drinking he sed that he talked for the Union allthough voting for one thing and talking for another he thought some thing was lacking if you no eny thing how it is pleas write and let me no you thought I would get discouraged about writing that is the first time it was intrd my mind I allways keep writing for I think if I dont here from you you would like to hear from me I will half to close will write to A J & George in a day or to Good by for this time write soon
