Alzina Boardman
Alzina Boardman (maiden name: Wyman) was born around 1816 in New York. She married Samuel Boardman, and they had at least nine children: Andrew, born around 1837; Polly Ann, born around 1839; Charles, born around 1841; Eli, born around 1843; George, born around 1845; Minerva, born around 1849; Byron, born around 1852; Martha, born around 1855; and Bruce, born around 1859. They lived in Freehold, Pennsylvania, and her husband worked as a farmer. By 1850, they owned $150 of real estate. They moved to Columbus, Pennsylvania, in the 1850s. Her husband enlisted in the Union army in September 1862, and he died at Acquia Creek, Virginia, on April 1, 1863. She applied for a widow’s pension in July 1863 and eventually secured one. By 1870, she was living in her son Andrew’s household in Columbus. She died in 1897.
