Francis J. Parker to Anna L. Parker, 26 October 1862
Sharpsburg. Oct. 26. 1862
My dear wife
I wrote you yesterday & related all the news. Today it rains smartly and I expect that the Army will move as the river will probably rise now and guard Maryland without our help.
Which way we go I dont know, or any body else here about but it is not likely that much campaigning can be done after six weeks hence unless we go farther south. Then may be a chase up the Shenandoah Valley but I doubt.
If I get into the vicinity of Washington I shall order you on—will you come?
Yours hastily Frans J Parker
