Priscilla Lavier (maiden name: Haysmer) was born around 1841 in England to Edward and Rachel Haysmer. The family immigrated to America around 1855 and settled in Clarendon, New York. She married Zephram Lavier on April 30, 1859, and they had two children: Amelia, born on November 10, 1859; and Laura, born on June 22, 1861. They lived in Barre, New York, and her husband worked as a farmer. By 1860, they owned $200 of real estate and $200 of personal property. Her husband enlisted in the Union army in August 1862 and died of typhoid fever a year later. Priscilla applied for a widow’s pension in January 1864 and eventually secured one. She married Lyman Mower in New York on March 23, 1864, and she may have moved to Van Buren County, Michigan, soon afterward. She died sometime after 1864.
