Polly Wood
Polly Wood (maiden name: Doty) was born around 1808 in New York. She married Elisha Wood, and they had at least six children: Ellen, born around 1831; Mary, born around 1836; Ann, born around 1840; Meroe, born around 1843; George, born around 1844; and Franklin, born around 1848. They settled in Madison, Ohio, and her husband worked as a tanner and farmer. By 1850, they owned $8,400 of real estate. A decade later, they owned $15,000 of real estate and $15,000 of personal property. Her husband died around 1863. She remained in Madison, and by 1870, she owned $3,500 of real estate and $7,500 of personal property. She died on March 21, 1887.
