George R. Adderton
George R. Adderton was born around 1830 in North Carolina to Jeremiah and Abigail Adderton. He grew up in Davidson County, North Carolina, and his father died there around 1844. He married Adline Kearns sometime in the 1850s. By 1860, he was working as a farmer in Randolph County, North Carolina, and he owned $3,000 of real estate and $3,470 of personal property.
 
He enlisted in the Confederate army on March 23, 1863, and mustered in as a private in Company K of the 5th North Carolina Cavalry later that day. The regiment participated in the Battle of the Wilderness and the Battle of Spotsylvania Court house. He mustered out sometime after October 1864. Adderton returned to Randolph County after leaving the army, and by 1870, he owned $2,500 of real estate and $1,000 of personal property. His mother lived in their household until at least 1880. He died in 1893.
