Adeline Norwood Adderton
Adeline Norwood Adderton (maiden name: Kearns) was born around 1829 in North Carolina to Isaac and Mary Kearns. Her father was a farmer who owned $4,400 of real estate in 1850. She probably grew up in Randolph County, North Carolina, and she married George R. Adderton sometime in the 1850s. They remained in Randolph County, and by 1860, they owned $3,000 of real estate and $3,470 of personal property. A decade later, their wealth had fallen to $2,500 of real estate and $1,000 of personal property. Her husband died in 1893. She remained in Randolph County after his death, and by 1900, she was living in her brother Alson’s household. Around May 1918, she fell and injured her hip. She died one month later, on June 4, 1918.
