Emma Augusta Griffin
Emma Augusta Griffin was born around 1840 in Sangerville, Maine, to John and Rosamond Griffin. By 1860, she was living in Dover, New Hampshire, and working as a weaver. She married Leonard P. Whitney there on February 26, 1862. Her husband worked as a music teacher, and by 1870, they owned $4,000 of personal property. She divorced him in February 1874, citing “adultery and extreme cruelty.” She married Clarence H. Montgomery in Boston, Massachusetts, on March 7, 1874, and she died sometime after 1874.
