Rebecca Shouldise (maiden name unknown) was born sometime in the early 1800s in Ireland. She married William Shouldise, and they had at least four children: Mary, born around 1840; Henry, born on February 10, 1840; William, born around 1842; and Rebecca, born around 1846. The family immigrated to America sometime before 1860 and settled in Owen, Indiana. Her husband worked as a farmer, and by 1860, they owned $50 of personal property. Her husband died on September 19, 1861, and her son Henry died on August 1, 1864, while serving in the Union army. She applied for a federal pension, and she secured one at a rate of $8 per month. By 1870, she was living with her son William in Owen, and she owned $500 of real estate and $100 of personal property. She probably died sometime in the 1870s.
