Ada S. Wyman was born around 1854 in Maine to Joseph and Mary Wyman. Her father was a farm laborer who owned $250 of real estate and $100 of personal property by 1860. She grew up and attended school in Freeport, Maine. Her father served in the Union army, and he died of disease on July 29, 1864. Ada married Joshua Merrill sometime in the 1870s, and her daughter Nellie was born around 1877. The family lived in Freeport, and her husband worked in a coat shop. Her husband died on April 6, 1900. She remained in Freeport, and by 1910, she was living in her daughter Nellie’s household there. She died sometime after 1930.
