Thomas C. Sweet
Thomas C. Sweet was born around 1843 in Erie County, New York, to Hannah Sweet. His father died sometime before 1855. His mother earned a living as a washerwoman, and by 1860, she owned $150 of real estate and $50 of personal property. He grew up and attended school in Concord, New York, and by 1860, he was working as a farm laborer. He enlisted in the Union army on September 19, 1861, and he mustered in as a private in Company A of the 100th New York Infantry on September 25. He died in the Seven Days’ Battles near Savage’s Station, Virginia, on June 28, 1862.
