James J. Card
James J. Card was born around 1839 in New York to Elijah and Amanda Card. His father died of apoplexy in 1850. He grew up and attended school in Dryden, New York. He enlisted in the Union army on October 3, 1861, and he mustered in as a private in Company F of the 76th New York Infantry. The regiment took part in the Second Battle of Bull Run, the Battle of Antietam, the Battle of Fredericksburg, the Battle of Chancellorsville, and the Battle of Gettysburg. He was wounded near Gainesville, Virginia, on August 28, 1862. He eventually recovered and rejoined his regiment. He was wounded again in the Battle of Gettysburg, and he died on July 8, 1863.
