Jefferson H. Turner
Jefferson H. Turner was born around 1840 in Ohio to John and Eliza Turner. His father was a farmer who owned $1,900 of real estate and $400 of personal property by 1860. He grew up and attended school in Richmond, Ohio, and by 1860, he was working as a cheesemaker. He enlisted in the Union army on July 11, 1863, and he mustered in as a private in Battery M of the 2nd Ohio Heavy Artillery on September 9. He died of disease at Camp Nelson, Kentucky, on February 28, 1864.
