Francois Aubin to Eliza Aubin, 6 June 1863
Camp Near Richards Ford
on the Rappahannoc June 6th 63
Dear Daughter
I write you these few lines to let you know that I am well and hope this will find you the same. We mooved from our camp again wensday 4th of June in the night arrived here about 1 oclock in the after noon. There was some fears that the rebels would cross the river and come in our rear so we are here on picket all along the river banck to prevent them from crossing The day before we started we recieved 2 months pay and a new uniform of the Zouave style/I did not get any myself because I was expecting to go to Washington in the invalid corps but we mooved so unexpectedly that I had to go with the rest of the regiment. We camp in pine woods about 1/2 mile from the river. I will send in this letter 26 dollars in full for you to put with the rest for it is very unsafe to keep any mony with you here In hope to see you again sometime your father Francis Aubin
After I had sealed up my letter I recieved yours dat 1st on which I was glad to learn that you was well. I got them stamps you sent me when you write again please send me a sheet of paper and envelope in case I should loose mine for we are mooving very often and don’t know what might happen My best respects to you all
Francis Aubin
