Francois Aubin was born around 1818 in Canada to Joseph Aubin and Marie Geneieve Morin. He married Adelaide Poudret dit Lavigne, and they had at least four children: Eliza, born around 1836; Frank, born around 1840; Joseph; and Matilda. The family immigrated to New York around 1850. By the early 1860s, he was living in New York. He enlisted in the Union army on August 21, 1862, and mustered in as a private in Company D of the 146th New York Infantry. According to his enlistment records, he was 5 feet, 5 inches tall, with dark hair and gray eyes. The army transferred him to the Veteran Reserve Corps on September 12, 1863. He died sometime after 1863.
