                                                                                    Ever Dear Mother
                                                                        Mother as I had a very good chance to have my Likeness taken to day I improved the opertunity of Sending you one you have one or two but I thought you wold like to See how I looked now days in dixie it is a very good likeness but my Cap viser Shadows my forehead rather bad but there were so many there that I could not get another. the boys say it looks just like me it looks rather lighter complected than I am just now; we ar going to move from here soon I dont know where or whitch way we shall go but have some reason to/that we shall go toards washington but none of us do not know any more about where we are going or whitch way untill we start and get there no more about it than you do some say we are going to Charlston SC some say to washington DC some say to Sentervill Va but none know any more about it than that; I am well Aaron also have you hurd any thing from Lewis [?]

                                    You May all be asured that I am not a Coperhead I am not willing as yet to yield to them and have their independence granted but I am but one & a Soldier at that but I think this war cold of ben ended before now and in/our favor if we had oficers that thought as much of the constitution and the union as they do of their purces and whiskey or faught as hard as C—Jackson & others have for their Confederate Goverment but come to the [?] of war genrals do not fight for any thing beter for the goverment than they they fight for a confederate goverment and ours fight for Greenbacks
