Sarah E. Titus (maiden name: Emmerton) was born on August 30, 1813, in Maine to Henry and Abigail Emmerton. Her father was a sailor. She married Weston Titus on August 19, 1832, and they had at least ten children: Laura, born around 1834; Frances, born around 1839; Lorenzo, born around 1841; Sarah, born around 1842; Albert, born around 1844; Zeruah, born around 1848; Mary, born around 1850; Erastus, born around 1850; Marcia, born around 1854; and Emily, born around 1858. They lived in Waldoboro, Maine, and Weston worked as a miller. They moved to Union, Maine, sometime in the 1850s, and by 1860, they owned $500 of real estate and $100 of personal property. A decade later, they owned $800 of real estate and $200 of personal property. She died of “old age” in Lincoln County, Maine, on January 29, 1898.
