Laura Evelyn Chapman (maiden name: Titus) was born on March 28, 1835, in Maine to Weston Titus and Sarah Emmerton. Her father was a miller who owned $500 of real estate and $100 of personal property in 1860. In 1850, she was living in Nobleboro, Maine, with her brother Olney. She married Wilson F. Chapman in Nobleboro on April 5, 1851, and they had at least seven children: Sanford, born around 1854; William, born around 1858; Elmer, born around 1861; Sarah, born around 1863; Isabelle, born around 1865; Glencora, born around 1868; and Frederick, born around 1875. Her husband worked as a shoemaker, and in 1860, they owned $600 of real estate and $950 of personal property. A decade later, he was working as a farmer, and they reported $900 of real estate and $200 of personal property. They moved to Damariscotta, Maine, sometime in the 1870s, and her husband died there in 1898. Laura remained in Damariscotta, eventually moving into her son William’s household. She died sometime after 1910.
