Olney W. Titus
Olney W. Titus was born around 1836 in Maine to Weston Titus and Sarah Emmerton. His father was a miller who owned $500 of real estate and $100 of personal property in 1860. In 1850, Olney and his sister Laura were living in Nobleboro, Maine, and he was attending school there. He moved to Dexter, Maine, by the 1860s and began work as a farmer. He was drafted into military service during the Civil War, mustering in as a private in Company C of the 19th Maine Infantry on August 7, 1863. He was wounded on June 12, 1864, during the Battle of Cold Harbor, and he may have died a week later on June 19, 1864.
