                        Dear, Mother.
            It is some time since I have written to you, but now I will try and write you a few lines. I believe I have not written to you since I got the letter Mary. Eliza wrote when you sent me that paper and plaster but you must not wait for me to write but write often. We are now in winter quarters and shall probley make quite a Stop. We live quite well now but I could eat a chickings leg and a piece of mince pie any how and should like to have them for New Years dinner I received a Box from Dexter two weeks ago last Saturday then I had a rarity and a general good time, and now I am expecting another one filled with nice rarities a piece of Brown bread or of Sausage we call it a niceaty I had a letter from Jo yesterday Lucy and her Family are well. I also have had a letter from Laura a short time ago/she and her Family was well O yes! and I have seen Albert we were together about an hour and a half with him he was well and he looked rugged and tough I am not very flush with money now but I will send you some soon
write as soon as you get this and write often              Give my regards to all inquireing Friends
