Dear Mother
I pen those few huryed lines to let you know I am still alive and well it is so dark I can not see a line or can not read a word after I rite it we are laying in rifle pits to day we are on the Va sentral railroad the direct road from to we are some 30 miles from richmond we have met with good success so far/
I cannot write much this time for I can not see the Jonies send a bullet over here once in a while
I have not seen Olney olny once since this began he was well then Aaron Maddocks is all right also Messer you can tell their folks if you shold see them I shall have to bid you good Evening I dont know wather you can read this or not/
