Robert Neville to Mary A. Neville, undated
[fragment]
When at the C. C. Rooms inquired for meetings and found out there was one just across the street from where we stoped that evening so I went took part in the meeting had much liberty in prayer also received sweet tokens of his presenc & I felt greatly benefited greatly encouraged heard many words to my spiritual advantage and future welfare the meeting was the first of the young mens special meetings of the a greater advancement in the things of religion I critisized considerable of the maner of many of those who partook part in the meeting some made some remarks then prayed standing others only prayed standing it seems to me a great deal more befitting the prayer circle to get down on our knees shows a great deal more humility the meeting was conducted on a strict stiff Presbeterian style though the meeting was for young men yet there was two color negro women there and then and there talked and prayed in such humillity and simplicity worthy of imitation & not soon forgot /
