                                                                                                            Dear Friends at
Home I take my pen in hand to write to you I received your letter last night & was very glad to hear from you
 
I come of guard this morning at 8 o clock went to bed soon after to slep till noon we had a prety hard night of it it rained some of the time & the wind blew cold I will tell you what we have had for our dinner we had some beanes & hard bread I received the Voice last Satarday Sataday night Father you wanted me to write a bout Henery Colby he is at Washington in the Hospil I expect he is a gowing to get his discharge Corp Mandigo has been to Washington he got back up here to Camp last week he looks the best now I ever saw him We have been mustered for pay We weas mustered the last day of Feb we have had some bad weather here lateley it has been cold & windey we still remain here yet I dont know how long we shall though you say that you are haveing a great deal of snow thear this winter we have not had onley bout 4 inches / of snow at a time here this winter & that would not stay on more then one Day it would make it awful mudy gowing I want you to send me a paper once in a while & put some spruce gum in enough for 2 chawes the rest of the Boys have it sent to them in that way
 
Byron writes that they are a gowing to move the first of April
he says that he is not a gowing to work for Abel Adams
Father write me all about Jamaica in your next letter I have never writen to Seneca Folkes yet I have seen that Bouty Fellow he is in the 4 Reg the reason I have not writen to Seneaca is I have put it of & of I think I shall write after a while tell me how he is getting a long & all the rest of the Folks you cannot tell what plasure it gives me to here from Home
 
I cannot think of much more news to write this time so I will close by bidding you all good by write soon as you get this Direct you letter just the same as ever
