Parker A. Haven was born on August 15, 1814, in Ludlow, Vermont, to Edward and Sally Haven. He married Caroline C. Childs in Mendon, Massachusetts, on August 20, 1839. They had at least three children: Lowell, born around 1843; Horace, born around 1843; and Ransom, born around 1846. In 1840, the couple may have been living in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, and they moved to Woonsocket, Rhode Island, soon afterward.
They moved to Ludlow, Vermont, by the early 1860s. Haven worked as a farmer, and he owned $800 of real estate and $400 of personal property. A decade later, he owned $1,000 of real estate and $650 of personal property. According to one report, Haven was “subject to fits,” and he suffered from two in November 1872 “from which he never recovered.” His wife died at 6am on December 2, 1872, and he died in Jamaica, Vermont, at 8pm the same day.
