Dear Parents
 
            I now take my pen in hand to write you a letter I received your letter yestday after so long a time & one from Byron the same time they ar all well Byron said they expected you booth over thear soon to make a visit I was on guard yestday I have just come of this morning I thought I would answer your letter & Byrons now I am well & hope these few words will find you all the same it is / rather cold & windy this morning here father I sopose you have seen Gorge Burbank before this time have you not & got that letter that I sent by him father if you had sent me a box the time I wrote to you to send me one I should have got it by this time the other day thear was a lots of boxes came in to this Reg & thear was a lot more come up yestday I would like to have you sent send me a box by gorge B when he comes back if you ar a mind to I am glad you fell better than you did the last time you wrote to me about that Bafoir matter you told me / you would write more a bout it next time father you say that P Haven says that I told him about it in the time of it if I told him eny thing I told him that we did not a gree just right I never told him nor eny one esse eny thing more I sopose you know that I am about 21 years old I shall be in a few days we expect to get payed about the 20 after pay day I will get my minattur taken & send to you I want father you & mother to send me yours by Gorge B I cary Rantys in my sid pocket every day & look at it often I cannot think of much more to write to you this time
 
I will close this write as soon as you get this / if you want me to write ever
 
I saw Mr Carpenter the other day he is a blacksmithing now I will close you say that J H is a gowing to be married my respects to all ar they drafting any thear in Ludlow yet

N B I have just been reading Byrons letter over I forgot to tell you Daniel Abbot wife is dead Elviry Powell husband is dead & Ezera Ingols wife is dead I beleave it is the girl that stayed to Q Qncle Voles is it not Ingles is in Illinois do you ever hear from Milt lateley have you been to [?] father what do you think of the concrep act that has passed that is the onley way they will ever settle this thing by fighting L W Haven
