Dear Father and Mother
            I recived you letter on Due time and Was very hapy to hear that youres Was in good health as this leves me at Presant Thank God
 
            I Recived A letter from Orange Caulfield the Same time that I got youers he Says that he had hard Work to keep is old Man from Enlisting in the army he Says that times is very hard in Lowell at presant he is in good health he is in Suffolk V.A. there Was A Lowell boy killed at Cader Run V.A. that I youst to go With is name was Osker Spaulding he Was the Son of Old Spaulding the tall man
 
            Dear Farther I am very hapy to heare that you have A Nough to Eate for that is more then A good meny Can Say. tell Joe that i Will Write to him Sune I Wonder that Joe as not Enlisted but I supose he Dowes not think mutch Soguring and I think he is Write for I have got A bout Sick of it and I Wish I Was in his Place they would not get me A gan.
 
            Dear Mother. I Will Write tow New Orleans to your Mother and see if I Can get any Answer from thare I Was Sory to here that your Letter Came Back
 
            Dear Farther and Mother I Will Close these few lines now hoping to here from youse Sune. Give my Love to my little Sister and Brother and Grandfarther and all the Rest of the Folks
 
            So good by Dear Father and Mother. I Send youse my love and may God Bless and Proteck youse and I Wish I Was With youse but it is God Will that I Should be A way for a Wile but I Expect to be home be fore long)   from your Son
