                                                                                                                        Dear wife and Children I am bles with one more privlage of riting a few hastey lines to you
 
I am not verry wall this morning I am not verry sick, Sly tuch of the direar is all. I hav ben verry helthey for a while past I am in hops thease few lines will riche you in good helth I recev aletter from Eva. C. on 18th Dated 11th and 12th I am glad that Eva rites to me I wish that James and Emma wood rite as much as Ev dos
 
Lovicy I thot that you let out that corn groun on shares to Square Pratt. But Ev. rites not / I am glad that you hav all of the corn and foder if you can get it harvest it will be worth aconsiderable to you Husk it out if you can the furst time that it gets dry
 
Thare was grate chearing here last evening tha had herd some good neues we had won a good vicktrey tha cheard this morning with the cannon. tha roed like thunder I think that our armmey has ben verry sucksessfull this summer we are going to lay here this winter unless we advance. we are not going to fall back thare is no fall back to mr grant. Politicks reun verry hy here with us most of them are union men or lincon men We hav brest works and forts in frunt and rear of us reddey for the Jonnes on evry side /
 
Eva want that I shud exceuse her fore riting. Ev I think that you don furst rate you are lerning to rite fast. I hav not much to rite this morning Dr Strass has a furlo he leaves to morrow morning It is warm and dry here we hav had some cold nites here but no frost yet. Emma do you work for your bord whare dos James bord Liddey are you going to husk the corn for a penney a bushel this fall I wish that I cood see you little fallowes..I must bring this to a close I send my best respect to you all Trust you in the merses of god. rite ofen without fale from your farther and husband
