Dear Son and Dughters
I this good sabath evening set doun to Drop you A few lines to let you no we Are all well at present thanks be to god For his blessin Hopeing when these lines Come to hand tha may finde you all well And doing well 2 weeks A go I could Not have riten as I now do Mother was taken sick 3 weeks A go And for 9 or 10 days I did not thinke She would live the doctor was with Her 6 six times she had inflamation in The kidney and blader and fever I never saw her suffer so mutch before But thank be to the Ruler of all thing she is now well but verry weak She is now Abl to set up some and I hope she will git A long now you May no Emley has Had A harde time She had to do all the Worke and wate on Mother and gran Mother and lost half of her sleep all The time for a week we sat up with mother All the time she was sick some nites I did not close my eyes to sleep I done No worke for A weeke I could do nothing My mind was trubel you may no when I thaut My companion was A bout to leve me / Me Alone in this world of sorrow and trubel But my mind has be compose and I Am Aworke A gain
I will now say something to you About the Times And crop hear times is stil harde hear Money is harde to git And I fear will be no beter soon wheete crops will not make A half crop The fly is eating it up the farmer say it tis A gernel com plant Al over they cuntrey oats look well the farmers is not near done planting corn hear oaing to the wet wether we have Had A verry wet Spring so mutch so farmers could Not plow and verry mutch be hind with there Worke I will now say no more under that but We stil have the war questen deskust hear But thank god it tis all one sided with A few Exseptions unnion and the stars and stripes for Ever you will see by the paper I send you When our vollen teers lef Salem I could not go to see them starte I could not Leve mother but you will see tha had A good Time in town now I have said A nuf A bout That Now this is the 3 letter I have riten To you since I hav Receivd one fromy you Now I will rite no mo til you rite to me I will now stop for the present we stil hope To remain your kinde and affection parence

Now July Jula A few words to you I was hope ing I would have heard some thing From you before this time but I have bin disapponted you must be so well plest with your new home That you have forgot you have A father or Mother I hope you will take time A nuf to Rite some of these days you told me some tim A go you would rite and let me no how you was Plest with the people and cuntrey 4 months is All moste gon and you have never said one word To me yet in All the leters I have riten I have Not faild to say some thing to you but if you to say nothin to me A bout the cuntrey you can remain nutrel and thump it of Thinking now I mu must come to A close Hopeing you will think Anuf of your parence To rite some time And give our respects To cosen Alis Booker gerdianis Booker and Ther famleys and all our friends out thare The friends are All well as fare as I no at this Time Sol and Manervy was hear to day I saw James yesterday tha was all well but charly He has Averry soar mouth I Am now done good Nearly 10 oClock we would like to se you Al Verry mutch yours forever
