Welthea Ann Wood Carr (maiden name: Russell) was born on October 28, 1825, in Vermont to Luther Russell and Anna Wood. Her father was a farmer. She married Parker Carr, and they had at least three children: Ella, born around 1853; Benjamin, born around 1855; and Josephine, born around 1859. They lived in Waterford, Vermont, and her husband worked as a blacksmith. By 1850, they owned $1,400 of real estate. They moved to Thetford, Vermont, in the 1850s and then to Windsor, Vermont, in the 1860s. By 1870, they owned $500 of personal property. By 1880, they were living in their daughter Ella’s household in Amherst, Massachusetts. Her husband died on May 27, 1883, and she died in Amherst in 1893.
