August the 29
                                                                                                            Dear mother brother and loving sister I will try to write you a fiew lines to let you no that we are all well Sarah and little littie is her and littie is not well she has a very bad coald and rite cross but I hope that she will be well in a fiew days I will also say I hope that those fiew lines ma find you all well and a doing well pap is a going to start home in the morning I hate to think a bout him going a way but if he can sell out down there he wont be gone long he is a going to bi a house and lot in darlington O em it tickels me so to think that you are a going to get to /come out here to live and you will for pap ses that he intends to come now mother and em I will tell you what Sarah and I wants you to do we want you to go to work and cut carpet rags and look at them that is cut and fix as many as you can a meal sack full will make thirty yards and if you can cut enough for sixty yards just pitch in there is two nice rooms and a seller and kitchen now you must do as I tell you Sarah has got a good many rags and her and I will fix all we can and bet will weav it or we can weav it our selvs well em pap has got you a new dress and if I had got something to a put a round the botem I would of mad it you must put eight wedth in the skirt and if it ant long enough you must get something black and put a flounce around the boutom I hav a notion to keep it and / fix it my self and if pap dont move out we will express it to you I will see a bout it when pap comes this eavning Jake and mother and Sarah and mol and bet is a going to take pap to town to morrow I would like to go but I cant I will keep littie you must get you a black wast and make to wear with this skirt well I believe I will close for this time I want you write soon and tell me all of the news I would like to see my bare letter I will close Sarah wants to write some tell Scott and taylor to write to us

            Well Mother and Em I will try to write a little to you but I am purty scarce of newes I could tell you the newes better if I coude see you and I hope it wont be long till I can see you all lissa hant very well She has got avay bad colde I must tell you that I got a present of 6 teen dollers the other day I think that is a purty good present dont you and it was butternuts as they are called that give it to me they give it to me for the corne that Sile Hiatt cheeted me out of and they say that bout all they alow to give me Will soon have to come to a close for this time as I wrote you a letter last week  So good By
