Rhoda K. Tribbett to Julia A. Hubbard, undated
[fragment]

We had no drunkeness or carousing around, all perfectly civil and quiet, not a butternut to be seen but just let them get togethre and you will see all kinds of meaness going on. they drilled over in Abe Casner’s pasture last Saturday I dont know what they done over there, but you ought to have been in town that evening and seen them there was abut fifteen as drunk as fools, and acting like they had no sense. but it wont do any good to write so much about them.

Well Julia Lid Slifer has got a boy. I expect she sees satisfaction now would you not like to see her with a baby

O Julia I wish you was here I want to see you so bad I have got so many things to tell you / I hope I will see you this fall for I think the rebelion is about played out I hope so at least We have had very cheering news for the last month.
