Dear sister
I seat my self to write you a few lines to let you know that I am well and hope these few lines will find you enjoying the same blessing I received a letter from you to day and was glad to hear that you was well you wanted to know whether George Hanshew had come back or not he got back day before yesterday and Lieut Leavel come with him and I dont think I ever seen a prouder set of boys in my life than we all was for we had no Officer and we was a fraid / that Leavell would never be able to come back for we all like him as a man and as a officer for he is as good and brave an officer as ever need to be but Capt Stivenson has acted the dog with us for a long time and all of the boys in the Company is glad he is gone home to bother us no more George Hanshew gave me his your likenes which i was glad to receive and if it is not the one you had taken before I come away I am fooled It looks so natural that makes me want to see you worse than ever I have nothing strange to write to you I wrote AJ Smith last weak I / have got three letters from Decature lately and one from Harrison Herbin Harrison Herbin says he is promised to get married Well martha Gen'l Rosecrans has issued a order that all soldiers that has ben out as long as we have and never ben at home and has always done there duty shall have a furlough for thirty days and I am coming home some time this sumer But I dont know whether I will be among the first or not Give my respects to all enquiring friends
tell Marion Abert that his uncle wants to see him mighty bad and I will fetch him some candy when I come home tell manda / Plummer to not get marryed until I come so I can be at the weding
