August 29 1862 Dear Family I am well and harty this morning I thought I would write a few lines this morning I suppose you are some what lonseom I cant say that I am a person cant get lonesom here verry wel there is all kinds of innocent fun going on when not on duty last nite we had the elephant out some men got to gether and on there shoulders with blankets over them and lited candles and drove him round the Camp then came the fiddle and / dancing If any of our friends want to visit Camp they must come soon I saw in the paper this morning that we leave next tuesday that is our regiment the 101 we are not organized yet we will be this week our clothes has not come yet I cant tel whether we will get our mony or not but I think we will get it before we leave if so I will send it home some how just now orders came for every man to be in his Barix we are to be mustered in at 10 Oclock I hant much to write this time 
 
tel Jef I can sleep first rate on the soft side of pine plank I most forgot there was 30 or 4 in the gard house last nite some Tiffin boys ware caught and gaded with ther poultry but got a bord of the gard house and got back to there quarters poltry and all
 
            it is hard to write here there is such a fus
