George Morfoot was born on July 26, 1851, in Bucyrus, Ohio, to Charles Morfoot and Elizabeth Boyer. His father was a bricklayer who owned $500 of real estate by 1860. He grew up and attended school in Bucyrus. By 1870, he was living with his brother John in Ottawa, Kansas, and working as a laborer. He married Malinda Carter in Rochester, Indiana, on February 4, 1874, and they had two children, including Delmer, who was born around 1879. By the early 1910s, they were living in Greenfield, Ohio, and Morfoot was working as a farmer. His wife died around 1925, and he passed away in Bucyrus on May 10, 1932.
