Dear Wife and Children I will write a few lines here you may hear before this reaches you of one of the desperate Battles ever fought we have been in 2 days our Division the Battle has been over a week we are all cut to peaces many killed and wounded I wont mention who only 3 or 4 we knew they were left on the field yesterday our Division sufferd most our Brigade held on until we were nearly surrounded all remains of Company C present are nine men we heard of 2 more safe we are waiting in Battle line I have no time to write more Man Keis was shot in the arm /
