Camp of the 101 at Monteeno Mountain
near Huntsville Ala
Dear Family I wrote yesterday and will again this morning my paper was rather small and I forgot to send the Emry paper well I was braging about our good place I did not kno how near we was of leaveing it soon after I mailed my letter we heard the order had come to Division HDQuarter for us to go away but our old Corps Commander General Stanley came and countermanded it Stanley was wounded at Franklin and just came up General Wood was in command so Stanley sent Wood and his Division they say one Brigade goes to Weldon that is in East Tenn at the Tenn River wher the Railroad crosses going / from Chattanooga to Knoxville so we may stay here yet a while the rest of that Division goes to Eastport Ala well I will tell you that things can be got even here to have a spree on Col Mc had a supper for the Brigade Officers last evening they had ham roasted chickens peach and strawberry pies pound cakes buiscates and every thing one could wish but the cost I wont say how much I will give a lis of some of the prices of things here sugar 20 poark 22 butter none eggs $1.00 peaches 1.50 a quart can and tomatoes the same everything we get is 4 prices but such things I dont buy all I buy is sometimes shugar candles a little flour if you do ever send a box you must not put any eatibles but dried fruit or cans well soddered and well packed in brand oats or the like /
well I have a job on hand again I have to make out a copy of a payroal to send to Washington one for Dec 1862 some of old Mcs he never sent them we have all his writing to do when he was Capt to send to Washington I am getting tire of writeing for other ones business but I have 2 days for this one so I wont hurry I have some work of my own that is makeing rings I have some nice ones I am wearing one I have 5 silver sets in it I wish I had some home I have I sent my old one I gues you dident get it I will make another some day and send it well I will close this so Goodby again
