Ky Septem 15th 1862 Dear Wife
I will again write to day every day brings some thing new I have been on duty for 24 hours and am now releived we have a prospect of a big fight yet the rebels seem detemmand to have Cincinnati they are advanceing again I lern our pickets have been driven back to within 6 miles of Camp If they come up this time I think we will open on them with our big guns then rush on we have force enough to sweep them of the earth I suppose yo hear a great deal about our condition here we are all rite and safe I think we dont feel any allarmed not as much as folks further off /

wel I have drawn my clothes yesterday I got 2 pair of drawers cap and overcoat it makes with our blankets and oilcloth a lode enough for a mule to carry I can carry as much as any one else our cartrage box and belt and 40 rounds of amunition makes about a Wheelbarrow load the Boyes is sending home there things to day some have lots of things they captured besides there one rags I have nothing to send but my old hat and that is not worth any thing I threw it away I gave Ben a cake of soap is all the rebel property I confiscated there is rumor that we will go to Washington I think not until we whip / the rebels in Kentucky and that wont be long by all appearances

we are ready any minute to pitch in I suppose yo feel lonesom at home I would feel verry well contented if I had no family I could stay 10 years I like it better than I did but I must think of them I left behind me Keep in good cheer I think this war will not last always I look for the time when I will return satisfied that I have done my duty to my Cuntry you must do the best yo can and I will send yo money when I get pay I dont carry but a little when we go out / on a scout among the rebel pickets so if any of gets a furlow for the next world the rebels cant make much of our bodies we leave our money in care of the Chaplin Rev Canady he is the rite man in the rite place he can preach pray and fight he shouldered a musket the other day when we had the picket fight and was ready to pich in I must close
