Nathan Fellows Moses
Nathan Fellows Moss was born on September 16, 1838, in Westerly, New Hampshire, to Jesse and Fanny Moss. His father was a merchant and manufacturer who owned $5,500 of real estate by 1850. He grew up and attended school in Westerly.
 
In 1862, he received a commission as captain of Company H of the 11th New Hampshire Infantry. The regiment took part in the Battle of Fredericksburg and the siege of Vicksburg. He was promoted to major in November 1862, and he mustered out on July 13, 1863.
 
He died in New York City on January 20, 1879.
