Dear family i will try to write to you but i do not know that you can read it or not i am well except my wound it is healed up but it is verry painful inwardly i think i will never have the use of my right arm though it may get get all right i arived hear yesterday from Beaufort S.C. we ware 5 days on the ocean i was sea sick all one day pleas write to me as soon as you get this
i may have to be transfered to the State of Iowa before i can get a furlo but i will remain hear long enough to get your letter if i had been sure of staying at any place any time i should have written 5 times as ofton as i have
maby i will get a discharge on acount of loosing the use of my arm i hope i may, yes for i think i have done now more than my part and been too long from home and long to be with my dear little family and live a quiet life O if i was only there now to stay how happy i would be, Gods will be done
have you got that money yet now dear Ruth pleas excuse me for not writeing more at this for my arm and shoulder hurts me to write and then i make such bad work of it
kiss the children for me
may our lives be spaird to meet again to part not untill death
