Dear Ruth and children i write to you again in anser to the letter that i received yesterday i am well except my eyes they are about the same as they have been for some time i am happy to know that you are all well yes it is a comfort to me you seam to think that something is not rite. well i know of nothing rong with me except my eyes did you think i had some diseas and would not let you know of it you thought rong dear one yes thats so one thing i know that is rong and that is holding the vetrans regments / and concequently holding those in Hospitals that belong to vetran regments that has been the reason that i could not get a discharge it was not because they would not give me my papers nor becaus i was not able to ride on the cars no for i have not been so that i could not ride on the cars my eyes have not ben painful untill to day maby it is because i am takeing a tea spoon full of drops once in 4 hours that has morphine in it and it makes me verry sleepy
the doctor told me yesterday that all permently disabled vetrans like me could get a discharge / he said on acount of my eyes that i was intitled to a discharge i shall see about it this afternoon i will be apt to get a pention on acount of my eyes and the parcial loss of my rite shoulder and arm i must stop writeing for my eyes are verry painful and i can scarcely see the lines i will finish it tomorrow and Sunday

the reason that i have not finished this untill now is because my eyes have been wors but i can see better now i think they will get well soon for it for i have got the chill and fever
that Petition we sent to Washington is doing lots of good they sent orders to the Doctor in charge to discharge all that was not able for duty immediately or they would considered as traiters to the goverment

well dear family this letter aut to have been sent long ago but my eyes was worse and i had the chills but i am well of them now and my eyes are allmost well when i went to see about my discharge they told me that they ware looking for some one to examine the men here soon and could do nothing untill he come
